Field Service Engineer – RTP, NC
Location: Remote but within the RTP, NC location with up to 25% travel
EquipNet is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join our team, supporting leading laboratories across the biotech, pharmaceutical, chemical, and environmental industries. This role provides both remote and on-site technical support for LC-MS and GC-MS instrumentation, ensuring clients achieve optimal system performance and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
Provide remote and on-site technical support for LC-MS and GC-MS systems to maximize performance and uptime.
Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, and application-related issues across multiple vendor platforms (SCIEX, Agilent, Thermo Fisher, Waters, Shimadzu, Bruker, PerkinElmer).
Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and calibrations in alignment with manufacturer specifications and regulatory requirements.
Support installation, qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ), and validation of new LC-MS and GC-MS instruments.
Partner with customers to optimize system performance, including tuning, method troubleshooting, and workflow improvements.
Deliver technical training and guidance to laboratory staff on best practices for instrument operation and maintenance.
Maintain detailed service logs, documentation, and compliance records for all service activities.
Act as a brand ambassador, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction while representing EquipNet’s expertise in laboratory services.
Collaborate with internal engineering, customer service, and technical teams to resolve complex service issues efficiently.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Strong technical expertise in LC-MS and GC-MS systems, including troubleshooting, maintenance, and software configuration.
Proven ability to diagnose complex system failures and deliver timely, effective solutions.
Familiarity with chromatography data systems (CDS) and mass spectrometry software.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on documentation, compliance, and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently in client settings with a professional and customer-focused approach.
Experience & Education
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Analytical Chemistry, Engineering, Instrumentation, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
3+ years of experience servicing or supporting LC-MS/GC-MS instrumentation in relevant industries (biotech, pharma, chemical, environmental).
Hands-on experience with major vendor platforms (SCIEX, Agilent, Thermo Fisher, Waters, Shimadzu, Bruker, PerkinElmer) highly preferred.
Knowledge of regulatory environments (GLP/GMP, ISO, FDA) is a plus.
Proficiency with PC environments (Windows 2000/XP, Windows 7, Windows 10) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Valid driver’s license required; ability to travel up to 25% overnight within assigned territory.
